Christmas is not a public holiday in China, as there are only one percent of people are Christians, so most people only know a few things about Christmas. However, in recent years, Christmas has become more and more popular and is celebrated with keen interest, especially in large cities like Hong Kong, Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou, where there are a large number of expats. Students specially college students that majored in English who should receive the Western culture know more about this festival. Most of higher school or Middle school where English as a main course studied come to know the Christmas, and students there become interested in it, come to celebrate and call for more and more people to Christmas.

For most Chinese people, Christmas is celebrated as a happy occasion for get-togethers of friends and couples, without any religious attachment. It is a good time to celebrate with presents, good food and entertainment. Christians in China celebrate by lighting their houses with beautiful paper lanterns and decorating their Christmas trees, which they call "Trees of Light". They decorate the trees with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns. Christians in China also go to special services in churches.
If you visit the major cities in China, signs of Christmas can be seen everywhere you look. On the streets and in department stores, there are Christmas trees, lights and decorations. Christmas carols can be heard over the noise of the crowds. Chinese “Father Christmas” helps to make the scene complete.
In Chinese Happy/Merry Christmas is 'Sheng Dan Kuai Le or 圣诞快乐' in Mandarin and 'Seng Dan Fai Lok or 聖誕快樂' in Cantonese. Happy/Merry Christmas in lots more languages.
In China, Santa is known as 'Sheng dan lao ren' (Traditional: 聖誕老人, Simplified: 圣诞老人; means Old Christmas Man).
Certainly not every home will have a Christmas Tree (or celebrate Christmas at all!). If people do have a tree it is normally a plastic one and might be decorated with paper chains, paper flowers, and paper lanterns (they might also call it a tree of light). The Christmas Trees that most people would see would be in shopping malls!---from Qifeng Shoes Machine.
